Julia is a successful Barrister and Solicitor practicing in the areas of Family Law, Civil and Estate Litigation, Wills and Estates, and Real Estate.
Julia was born and raised in Transylvania, Romania, where she successfully completed her Bachelor of Arts with a major in Journalism. After moving to Canada, Julia returned to school in 2013, and obtained her Juris Doctor Degree in Law from the University of Alberta. During her studies, Julia obtained numerous scholarships and awards.
She is a current member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Central Alberta Bar Society, the Central Alberta Association of Collaborative Lawyers, and an active, practicing member of the Law Society of Alberta.
Julia has significant experience and has successfully appeared in the Alberta Court of Justice, Court of King’s Bench of Alberta, the Alberta Court of Appeal, and the Federal Court, numerous times, in various locations across the province.
When not working, Julia enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She loves musical theater, basketball, her puppies, and travelling to the mountains.

TERESA K. LORENZ, B.A., LL.B. | BARRISTER AND SOLICITOR, NOTARY PUBLIC
Teresa is a distinguished lawyer specializing in family law, wills and estates and offering a compassionate and comprehensive approach to clients.
With a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction from Concordia University of Alberta (2008) and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Alberta (2011), Teresa brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her practice.
Throughout her career, she has successfully handled a wide range of legal matters, including separation agreements, divorces, family property division, guardianship, parenting and child support matters. She is well-versed in navigating the complexities of the legal system, having represented clients in both the Alberta Court of Justice and the Court of King’s Bench. Her ability to achieve favorable outcomes in various legal proceedings, from chambers appearances to Judicial Dispute Resolutions and Trials, has established Teresa as a trusted advocate for her clients.
As a member of the Law Society of Alberta, Teresa is deeply committed to upholding the highest standards of legal practice. Her dedication to the legal profession is further demonstrated through her active involvement in the Central Alberta Bar Society, where she serves on the executive committee. She also currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Lending Cupboard, a testament to her commitment to community service.
Prior to returning to private practice, Teresa gained valuable experience in the nonprofit sector working as a Staff Lawyer with the Community Legal Clinic and she has continued her work with this organization as a volunteer lawyer. CREIGHTON M. GARSON, B.A., J.D. | BARRISTER & SOLICITOR, NOTARY PUBLIC
Creighton is a driven and steadfast Barrister and Solicitor with a passion to always learn new things.
He grew up in Sylvan Lake, Alberta and received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Calgary through the collaborative program at what is now Red Deer Polytechnic. Before law school, Creighton worked in Ukraine as an English as a Second Language teacher for two years, based in the City of Vinnytsia. He also served as an electoral observer for the 2019 Ukraine Parliamentary election through CANADEM. After living in Ukraine, he attended the University of Calgary for his law degree. During law school he worked at the United Nations agency the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to help Ukrainian refugees during the ongoing war, providing translation assistance and legal analysis.
Creighton articled in Red Deer, Alberta and is happy to be serving his local community. During his articles, Creighton was exposed to a variety of areas of law. With civil litigation, he worked on and led files involving small claims, employment, landlord-tenant disputes, insurance, collections, and estate litigation. He undertook matters involving wills, probate, and estate management and dealt with family situations involving divorce, child support, spousal support, and adult guardianship.
Since being called to the Bar, Creighton continues to hone his practice in civil litigation and wills and estates. He also utilizes his language skills to help those in need of assistance in immigration to Canada.
Outside of work, he enjoys time with friends and family, travelling, and any opportunity to learn something new.

Akshay is a hard working, friendly and passionate Barrister & Solicitor providing exceptional support to Kensian and Associates! He loves working in a team setting and focusing on problem solving.
Akshay speaks English, Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi, and he has a passion for Real Estate, Family Law, and Immigration Law.
Work done by Akshay and our team of lawyers at Kensian and Associates are key factors behind our ability to provide successful representation of our clients in all levels of court and outside of it.

MACY CHAU B.A., L.L.B (HONS) | BARRISTER AND SOLICITOR, NOTARY PUBLIC
Macy Chau is a dedicated lawyer at Kensian & Associates, specializing in high-conflict Family Law and Immigration Litigation. Her Family Law practice encompasses Divorce, Children’s Welfare, Parenting Arrangements, Maintenance Support, Paternity Issues, Property Division, and Domestic Violence issues, including Emergency Protection Orders and Restraining Orders. Macy is also skilled in handling Dependent Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship applications.
In Immigration Law, Macy has successfully managed judicial review files and appeals at the Immigration Appeal Division (IAD), helping clients and their families remain in Canada. Her expertise extends to inadmissibility hearings, refugee matters before the Refugee Protection Division and Refugee Appeal Division, as well as PRRA and humanitarian and compassionate grounds applications.
Macy went to law school at 17, studying Bachelor of Laws in Hong Kong which is a common law jurisdiction, and advanced her study in Belgium with a focus on Intellectual Property law and International IP litigation. Macy works as an Inhouse Intellectual Property Advisor for Luxury Brands group e.g. Gucci and Balenciaga for Southeast Asia Pacific Region. She transitioned to family and immigration law during her articles with prestigious Calgary litigation firms. Macy’s approach is client-centered, leveraging her diverse background to achieve favourable outcomes.

MUSA M. MUNEER, B.COMM., J.D. | STUDENT-AT-LAW, NOTARY PUBLIC
Born in Pakistan and raised in Red Deer, Musa Muneer brings a deeply rooted, community-informed perspective to serving diverse individuals and communities in Red Deer and Central Alberta.
With a Bachelor of Commerce with distinction (2021), and a Juris Doctor (2025), from the University of Calgary, Musa brings a high level of knowledge and expertise to serving clients in a variety of areas. Musa is passionate about serving clients by building meaningful client relationships and delivering high-quality, thoughtful legal services.
During law school, Musa took courses that prepared him to serve individuals, families, organizations, and businesses across a comprehensive range of legal matters – from sensitive personal injury issues to complex business matters.
Musa has a strong background in business and construction. He previously completed a co-op program at a large construction corporation in Calgary during his time at the Haskayne School of Business. He later built a successful family-owned business in Red Deer, with direct involvement in the development and construction of the commercial premises and continues to manage the business’s day-to-day operations. He doesn’t just know real estate and business law – he owns it.
Outside of work Musa enjoys spending his time with family and friends. He is actively involved in the Muslim community through the Red Deer Islamic Center. He also enjoys basketball, weightlifting, and travelling.

Born and raised in the Visayas region of the Philippines, Marie Jo relocated to Sylvan Lake, Alberta in 2016, after earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Management from the University of the Philippines.
Before earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with Distinction (2023) and her Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta (2026), MJ built experience in client-focused environments through various roles within the customer service industry.
Marie Jo’s commitment to service also extends beyond her professional work. She has been actively involved with the Filipino community and has contributed her time to the Community Helpers Program, a mental health advocacy initiative funded by the Alberta Health Services, in partnership with the Open Door.
During Law School, Marie Jo gained hands-on advocacy experience by serving as a volunteer for the Civil, Family, and Criminal Projects of the Student Legal Services of Edmonton. In her capacity as a Day Leader for the Criminal Project of Student Legal Services, she gained valuable experience in managing client matters and appearing before the Alberta Court of Justice for joint and contested summary dispositions, as well as trials involving low complexity criminal matters.
Her years of experience in client-facing roles has exposed Marie Jo to perspectives of people from all walks of life. These experiences taught her the value of understanding each individual’s unique circumstances and approaching every interaction with patience and respect, which will serve her well in delivering compassionate and thoughtful legal service to her clients.
Marie Jo is fluent in English, Filipino (Tagalog), and Hiligaynon.
In her spare time, MJ enjoys reading fantasy novels, experimenting with sourdough baking recipes, and spending time with her family.

ANGELA TAYLER | OFFICE & HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER
Angela is one of the most familiar faces at Kensian and Associates, and we have had the privilege of her support since 2020. She is truly the lifeblood of our office operations, keeping everything running seamlessly through her work in accounting, human resources, supply management, conflict resolution, and internal communications.
A professional, meticulous, and steady presence, Angela provides a strong foundation for the entire team. She values the opportunity to mentor colleagues and finds genuine purpose in working alongside a network of skilled and compassionate teammates.
When she’s not keeping the office on track, Angela enjoys spending time with her family, expressing her creativity through painting and fibre arts, and indulging her love of fancy shoes, which she considers one of her favourite personal trademarks.
HANNAH
Hannah is a dedicated senior legal assistant at Kensian & Associates, where she specializes in High Conflict Family Law and Wills & Estates. Her passion for these areas of law drives her commitment to providing exceptional support and guidance to clients though their difficult situations.
Outside of her professional life, Hannah cherishes moments spent with her family, partner and friends. Whether she's shopping or enjoying catching up with friends over coffee, she values the simple joys that bring balance to her busy schedule.
ALISHA
Alisha is our amazing Intake Specialist! Passionate about client care, Alisha is committed to ensuring every individual feels heard, respected, and supported from the very beginning. She believes that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference for those navigating difficult circumstances and strives to provide compassionate service throughout the intake process.
Outside of work, Alisha enjoys spending time with her daughter and their dog. She can often be found reading a good book, exploring nature on a walk, or enjoying a true-crime documentary or series.
KEN
Ken is the newest addition to Kensian & Associates. He specializes exclusively in real estate transactions. With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to efficiency, he ensures seamless property closings for clients. His dedication to real estate law allows him to provide exceptional support to both the legal team and clients alike. Recently relocated to Red Deer, Ken enjoys exploring his new surroundings with his wife and their two beloved dogs. An avid hiker, he loves discovering scenic trails and spending time outdoors. When he's not on the trails, he enjoys quality time with family and making the most of his new home.
JAY
Jay is a Legal Assistant working in family and immigration law, supporting case preparation, document drafting, filings, and client communication. Fluent in English, Punjabi, Urdu, and Hindi, he is known for being approachable, client-focused, and committed to professionalism and confidentiality. Outside of work, Jay enjoys working out and cooking, and values discipline, balance, and continuous self-improvement.
CARL
As an experienced senior paralegal, Carl supports lawyers and clients through careful organization, clear communication, and a steady attention to the details that tend to matter most when everyone is busy. He takes pride in keeping files, deadlines, and documents moving in the right direction, preferably before anyone has to ask where something is or went wrong.
Outside the office, he enjoys taking advantage of a decent day before the weather changes its mind, spending time with family and friends, following the hockey season with a familiar mix of hope and resignation, and having informed opinions about coffee, pickup trucks, road construction, and the price of everything.
RAJ
Raj is a new Legal Assistant working in Family Law, providing support with case preparation, legal document drafting, court filings, and client communication. Fluent in English, Punjabi and Hindi, she is known for her strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and client-focused approach. Rajveer is committed to maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and efficiency while assisting clients through legal processes.
Outside of the office, she enjoys cooking, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends. She values balance, personal growth, and building meaningful connections both professionally and personally.
Raj loves Alberta, and one of her long-life dreams is to go camping in an RV for at least a weekend!
JEN
Born and raised in Camrose and then the Stony Plain area, Jen built a career spanning over 20 years in accounting! She is our new bookkeeper, and we couldn’t do this without her! Her attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to accuracy makes everything money related run smoothly at Kensian and Associates!
Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family and pets, volunteering, and contributing to local initiatives as an active member of the Lions Club.
